- Pleurotus is a mushroom that has both firm and tender flesh, as well as a subtle aroma and a mild taste.

- Apart from that, oyster mushroom helps intestinal function.

Varieties
- In this group, the widely known varieties are:
- Eryngii (also called king oyster mushroom, king trumpet mushroom, French horn mushroom, boletus of the steppes):
- Properties: It is an edible mushroom of great quality that has excellent medicinal properties. It cures gastropathies and indigestion.
- Pulmonarius (also called Indian Oyster, Phoenix Mushroom, or the Lung Oyster):
- Properties: It is an edible mushroom with similar medicinal properties to that of Eryngii. It is considered to be a variety of the Pleurotus Ostreatus, but it is much paler and with a short stem.
