What is the fastest way to increase vitamin D?

You can raise your vitamin D levels quickly in three main ways: Getting outside and exposing your skin to sunlight. Take a vitamin D supplement.

Mushrooms are the only vegetable that contains Vitamin D, naturally. All other natural food sources of Vitamin D are of animal, poultry, or seafood origin.

Vitamin D sources with Mushrooms

Also, some foods, such as milk, orange juice, and cereals may be fortified with Vitamin D, up to 100 IU.

Cultivated mushrooms contain a plant sterol called ergosterol, which is the precursor of Vitamin D².

In fresh mushrooms, ergosterol is stimulated to convert to Vitamin D² by ultraviolet light, either from sunlight or artificial lights.

The vitamin D levels of common varieties of mushrooms are listed below for a standard 100 g serving. 200 IU is recommended for adults up to the age of 50.

Adding Vitamin D to Fresh Mushrooms

It has been demonstrated in recent studies that the level of Vitamin D² in White/Brown mushrooms can be increased significantly (up to 100% of the Daily Value), by exposure to ultraviolet light for a few minutes, either pre-harvest or post-harvest.

When this technology is perfected, Super-D mushrooms may be available, to the public, as a vegetable source of Vitamin D.

Eat foods rich in vitamin D -

  • Cod liver oil*
  • Trout*
  • Salmon*
  • Mushrooms*
  • Fortified dairy and non-dairy milk.
  • Fortified cereals.
  • Sardines.
  • Eggs.

What is the major problems in mushroom cultivation?

Problems and solutions in the cultivation of the mushroom including: a) Mycelium fails to form Improper initiation strategy.  Solutions : consult parameter of growth. Alter moisture, temperature, light, carbon dioxide, etc.  Note : If the substrate is too moist, decrease moisture b) Chlorinated or contaminated water.  Solutions :  Use activated charcoal water filters to eliminate chemical contaminants or any other ways of simple or appropriate technology. c) Bad substrate.  Solutions : Check substrate. Spread the substrate and remix the substrate, package again, make sure all raw materials are good and fresh.   Note : It is necessary to pasteurize immediately after bagging otherwise fermentation gas will slow down the rate of growth of mycelium or stop mycelium growth. d) Bad pasteurization.  Solutions : Check method of pasteurization. Release all air and make sure there is continuous steam before starting pasteurization for a period of 3h. e) The substrate in the bag is too hot when i

Oyster mushroom vs button mushroom nutrition | Nutritional comparison between oyster and button mushrooms
